Mr. B V Shah came to Chennai along with his family at a very young age from Kutch, Gujarat. In 1982, they started Flora - a family garments store in Pondy Bazaar.

In 2005, Instore a business focusing on Womens wear was founded with the first store in Pondy Bazaar. In 2007 Instore opened its second store in Purasawalkam. In 2018 it expanded into Childrens and Mens wear exclusively at the Velachery outlet.

In May 2019 Instores e-commerce store - www.instore.co.in went live.

Instore has an in-house designing team which passionately believes in creating affordable designer fashion for women of all ages. It also works with many artisans, to bring to you the charm, colours and aesthetics of the timeless fabrics of India.

It is happy to have more than 95% of its entire business workforce as women.
